American Quartz Group Celebrates Groundbreaking Ceremony in Lenwood

The City of Barstow was honored to welcome the American Quartz Group as the official groundbreaking commenced on their new multi-million dollar facility in Lenwood.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by local, County and Statewide Elected Officials which included Barstow Mayor Julie Hackbarth-McIntyre, who was joined by Chairman of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Curt Hagman, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, and Daniel Sieu Minority Business Development Agency, U.S. Department of Commerce.

Key note speakers emphasized the Economic Development opportunities to the region by the addition of The American Quartz group and its affiliates in fostering the commitment to building a strong and long lasting relationship that will meet the demands of an ever-growing market.

“The City of Barstow would like to acknowledge the substantial investment by the American Quartz Group and Chairman Hu in your commitment to premium quality products and environmentally friendly operations,” stated Mayor Julie Hackbarth-McIntyre.

President and CEO of the American Quartz Group Tommy Hu emphasized the company’s commitment to its newfound American Partners in creating an atmosphere of economic prosperity.

“We are so happy to have found this location here in Barstow as the future site of our new facility,” stated President Hu. “The estimated revenue for our first year is over $75 million dollars, and we feel strong and confident to in expanding our manufacturing facility to Barstow.”

San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Chairman Hagman and State Treasurer Fiona Ma echoed those sentiments by presenting both County and State Resolutions.

“On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, I am honored to be here today to present you a resolution signifying our mutual commitment to success,” stated County Chairman Curt Hagman. “The County will continue its commitment to job growth and economic prosperity.”

State Treasurer Fiona Ma stated, “It is my honor today to be here, and thank Mr. Tommy Hu for opening another factory here in California. We are the 5th largest economy in the world, and it is because of our diverse economy, our strong economic growth, but also largely in part due to the entrepreneurs and business owners who choose California as their home to do business that make our State successful.”

Mayor Julie Hackbarth-McIntyre presented the Key to the City as part of the official welcoming ceremony where she further emphasized the key to economic growth through partnerships and collaboration.

“We will endeavor to write the pages of history by demonstrating the level of industry professionalism that will be brought to the region and State by the addition of the American Quartz Group, and with that I present to you the Key to our City” stated Mayor Hackbarth-McIntyre.
